I found cold sore medicine in my bathroom?

I haven't ever had cold sores and I haven't seen my bf with one before either. I just saw a tube of cold sore cream that I know hasn't been there because I throughly clean the bathroom and organize all the drawers. He hasn't said anything about having a cold sore but I hope he would so that I could avoid getting one, or giving one to my infant daughter..

I honestly don't know much about cold sores. Could he have gotten it from someone else or just had an outbreak from stress?
