How many days or weeks are you diet controlled?

Im still new to this and im going to get referred to a dietitian  but i was wondering how many days or weeks do u get diet controlled? Like if the diet is not working for your numbers i know they prescribe medications but how long does it take them to decide to put u on a medication?

I got diagnosed with GD at 27 weeks, I saw my OB at 28 weeks and she went over my numbers with me. I’m very easily dirt controlled so I didn’t need meds, but I would assume that you would have to wait till after that first appt to get prescribed the meds

2 and a half weeks after starting I was put on metformin because my fasting numbers were still a little over.

It depends on your numbers and how many of them are consistently high. When my fasting levels were a little higher, my doctor gave me 2 weeks to just try to figure it out and see if I can find a way to manage them. Some days are high and some days are lower still and I go back to show the numbers later this week so I’ll see if they decide to put me on meds. Usually fasting blood is the hardest to manage and that’s been true in my case.
