Question for moms who had an elective c section and live in the U.S - Was you c section covered by insurance?

There shouldn’t even be a such thing as an “elective c-section” if you have a decent dr, they will only do it if medically necessary. Scary thought to just choose to have one, so many risks 😕
But as for the question, if this is a thing, I would assume any birth is covered if you have insurance. I could be totally wrong though 🤷‍♀️

Insurance will not cover it unless it is medically necessary. They won’t even cover an early induction unless necessary. They treat it as every other elective surgery, which will most likely be at your cost 100%. Plus, your doctor won’t allow it unless you’ve had previous ones. Elective csections are only for women who have been forced to have a csection with a previous pregnancy.

Well mine was covered but I attempted to have a natural birth first and after several hours told my ob that I was done waiting and asked her to remove the baby. I was in labor from 9am- 5;30pm. My labor had stopped progressing so I was stuck at 4cm for 2 hours. Ended up having  baby with a 37cm head and she told me there was no way I would’ve gotten her out!

Elective c section?!  Sounds crazy.  Mine was covered but mine was emergency.  
Girl... you don’t want to choose a c section.  I was terrified during mine. Would have rather been able to push the baby out... but head was too big and my pelvis was too small 😭
