Genetic testing opinions?

I’ll be 8 weeks tomorrow, I also have an appointment tomorrow, the last appointment, the doctor mentioned having genetic testing done. I really know nothing about it and my mom said it only made her worry, and she doesn’t recommend it. Is it worth it? I have a cystic fibrosis gene that runs in my family, although no one in my family actually has cystic fibrosis. Curious who’s had it done or hasn’t had it done and how you feel about it? I’m kind of on the fence about getting it done.
