What are your experiences with Wellbutrin?

I’m on day 2. And I feel a bit numb atm but that may just be my depression lol

I’m on 300mg of Wellbutrin XL, once a day, every day. I have panic disorder. The first time I took it, I had depression AND panic disorder. I just restarted it after 2 years of being off. It was the ONLY antidepressant that worked for me. I had previously been on Prozac (but I hit a hard plateau) and Celexa (which I had a horrible reaction to.) Each time, they started me off with 150mg for a week and then moved me up to 300mg because of the severity of my anxiety. When I first took it, I had headaches every day for about a week and a half. I also had loss of appetite and insomnia which caused my doctor to prescribe melatonin (not recommended for long term use.) This time, I only got a bad headache my first day of 300mg. And I had some insomnia for the first week. When I first took it (when I was super depressed), it did take like a month for me to feel a little normal. I also went to counseling every week.
It does take a few weeks for your levels to really even out but you should be able to tell if there’s an improvement within at least 2 weeks. If you feel like there’s something wrong or you feel like it’s not helping, please discuss your symptoms with your doctor and get their opinion. If your doctor isn’t willing to help, find a new one. Your mental health is important and you deserve a doctor that’s willing to listen.

It can take up to 4 weeks for antidepressants to really kick in. It’s way too early to tell right now. Hang in there. I was on Wellbutrin for years and it saved my life.

I think those types of meds can take several weeks to really kick in/get the full effect but you can always talk to your doctor. Trying to find the right medication is hard because everyone is different
