** possible trigger**

Long story short. Our neighbor was a girl last year and now wants to be known as Tyler this year. I'm not sure on any more details because it is not my business. However, my son just told me that this child wants to die. I couldn't ask more details because it was on our way to tutoring. My question is though - do I tell the dad? My MIL told me to go to school counselor and make it anonymous. She said not to even mention to the dad and let the school handle it. I personally would want to know but I'm not real close with the dad. When he shows up to the bus he has a beer in hand. I'm not really sure he would really be approachable. What would you do?

UPDATE: I ended up calling the counselor. They couldn't go into details but said they have spoken with the child and notified the parents.
