If both you and your partner are negative blood groups?
The GP said yes but the hospital questioned it.

Yes. I questioned it because I bled a lot with my first so always needed a shot. I questioned it at the hospital, the specialists said it was still important to get it. Not the nicest shot but not the worse so I just put up with it x

No.  It’s only if your partner is Rh+.  If you are both negative, there is no way that baby can be Rh+.  Your body only makes antibodies for + not - blood types.  At birth they should test babies blood type and if they’re negative you wouldn’t need the second shot.  The only reason I can see dr. recommending it is “just in case” your partner is not the father (and some people wouldn’t admit that), then it would be extra cautious.

The only case I would think they would do it if both you and the father are rH negative is if you have had a miscarriage with another man and didn't know his blood type.
