Did anyone else skip the glucose test?

This would be my 4th baby and I passed all other pregnancies. I think it’s a waste of time honestly since I know I’ll pass it this time also. Has anyone else skipped this test?

No.  You can develop GD in any pregnancy, regardless of history.  Having GD and not knowing it, therefore not doing anything about it, can cause serious complications.  Why risk it?

I passed it with my first and failed miserably with this pregnancy. Every pregnancy is different, please take it seriously. What's the worst that could happen? You pass the 1 hour?

Every pregnancy is different. You could be fine in all other pregnancies, but this one you could develop GD. It can happen to literally anyone and you don’t actually have to have a history of it or be “high risk” at all for it to be possible to develop. A lot of time GD can go undiagnosed, which is very dangerous. My doctors office personally won’t continue to see you unless you participate in the test. We need to allow them to be able to do their jobs and to take care of us and the baby properly. Which means participating in a test like this. It’s a simple test. Just drink the sugar drink. I would not risk it and assume that I’m okay when it’s a risk for everyone.

In my country you don’t get that test unless you are high risk for pregnancy diabetes. I’m not getting it 🤷🏻‍♀️ 
That being said, if it would be offered (standard or to me for whatever reason) I would take the test, because why not?

Having untreated/undiagnosed GD can increase your risk of preterm labor and still with. So I feel like it’s 100% worth it, plus every pregnancy is different.

No I didn't skip it and I won't if I become pregnant again. All the appointments made during pregnancy have a reason behind them even if they do feel pointless. How are you supposed know if something is wrong if you don't go?

I personally do home testing for a week instead of the in hospital test due to a horrible previous reaction to the glucola drink in a past pregnancy. I still think its important to do at least home testing as GD can develop in any pregnancy.

I didn’t in the end as it’s justnot worth the risk. Just because you didn’t previously have GD it doesn’t mean you won’t this time I’m afraid. Speak to your doctor about it if you’re unsure but they wouldn’t offer it if they didn’t think it was important :) x
