Trouble with solids?

My son will be 8 months on the 19th and still does not care about solids one bit. We’ve been trying for a couple months. I never force him to eat more than he wants but he’ll barely take 2-3 spoonfuls and then cry until I give him a bottle. I purée the heck out of it too so it’s not even chunky. Anyone else having trouble? Should I just wait awhile and try again? My daughter was gobbling down solids by 6 months so this is new to me.

This was my son! He wasn’t a big eater and still isn’t. He’s not picky, he just is content with a few bites here and there and he’s done. My daughter is the complete opposite, I can’t feed her enough. For your little guy, I would just keep offering solids. And if he only takes a few bites, so be it. Right now, milk is their main source of nutrition so you have time. Another thing you could try is giving him table foods, if you haven’t already. Some babies like feeding themselves and he may show more interest if he’s eating foods like mama and dada. Good luck!

Try the pouches! My son is starting to be feisty and independent when it comes to feeding. He would grab the spoon, grab the container etc. So I handed him a pouch and sucked it right down. Less mess too. Well sometimes lol he likes to squeeze it sometimes before it's in his mouth and then its everywhere haha

I started holding my daughter to feed her and she eats WAY more. Also, I started feeding her out of the pouch and she eats more that way as well. I still use a spoon now and then and she now tries to feed herself with it. You can buy reusable pouches on amazon so you can make your own and use those to feed!

I've really been struggling with this as well!! I've found that my son hates anything mushy so I've been making banana "pankcakes" (blended banana with 2 eggs and a little cinnamon) and cook them like pancakes and he has eaten these more than anything. He also likes to suck on steak that's well done (too tough to bite anything off but gets iron and zinc this way). I follow solidstarts on Instagram and she has tons of advice.
