Breastfeeding and haaka?

My son was born 5 days ago and my milk came in around day 3. He’s eating well and having plenty of bm and wet diapers but my boobs are engorged. I bought a haaka but I’m scared I’ll over produce and it’s not baby regulating my supply. What should I do? I know engorgment is bad but I don’t want to screw breastfeeding up by doing something wrong.  Help

The haakaa just catches your letdown so it will not tell your body to make more milk. You’re fine to use it. I would not suggest pumping at this point because that will tell your body to produce more milk. Good luck mama.

Baby feeds on one side and you use the haaka on your other breast at the same time. Then switch the next time.

I used plastic shells that catch up to 2oz of milk. I also bought a bunch of milk storage bags to start my freezer stash. Use the shell on the breast baby wasn’t drinking from, save the milk that leaked and store for other feedings. I’ve now been breastfeeding for nine months. You’ll figure out what works best for your body. The haaka and I didn’t get along. Glad I found the shells on amazon. They also helped with sore, cracked, broken nipples in the beginning as me and baby figured out breastfeeding together. Good luck

I remember when my milk came in I felt really engorged too for a bit. That goes in a few days. I would just hand express enough to relieve it a little bit, I didn’t want an oversupply either

I’ve packs when not feeding and double feeding fixed mine. I nursed from the same side for two sessions, then switched to the other side for two sessions and iced in etween.
I suffered so much with my first with enforcement and clogged ducts until a came across and article on kellymom.com that solved it for me.
Second baby I was only engorged for 24 hrs, bs weeks with my first.

If you are engorged you can pump enough to just get relief, but don’t empty bc that will tell your body to make more.
