My almost 22m old recently started saying mommy , daddy around 1-1.5 m ago . But now every woman is ‘mommy’ - he points to a lady walking her doggy in the street & says “mommy “ followed by a pause & then points to Dog says “doggy eat” .

The other day looks at a pamphlet in which a lady is dancing & goes “mommy dance” .

Why does he do it ? I heard one of his baby sitter (who has a 27m old) say that her Son as well does it , as in calls all women “mommy” . And she doesn’t know why.

When would he realise that I am his mom? How do I teach him ? Please tell me this is nothing to worry.
