2 yr old with fever

so this is my son's 3rd fever in alittle over a month, the first 2 times they broke within 24 hours this time I can not get this fever to break! he's had the fever sense Wednesday, I took him to the doctor Thursday she said it's probably something viral no biggie. I thought it broke this morning cus his temp went down to 98 but within 2 hours it went back up to 101, now it's up to 102! Idk what to do should I take him back to the doctor should I take him to er should I let it run its course idk. send advice and prayers please
