My Work Dilemma :(
It’s currently 11:30 and I am VERY sick.
I woke up today with a sniffle, felt okay and went to work from 8-12...short shift. But through those few hours I got progressively worse.
I work in a cafe, so I’m working with food and people. I’m very hygienic but with all the things I’m touching from skin, money and food I can easily get sick/get others sick.
After today’s shift I just DIED. I had plans with bf to go to a movie and dinner and had to skip out.
I have a fever, the chills, coughing, sneezing and a runny nose and worst of all I can’t SLEEP even though my body desperately wants to.
I have a shift 8:30-3:00 tomorrow and I really don’t think I can do it...but it’s much too late to message my manager - I’ll feel terrible, it’s her day off so she might have to come in and it’s such short notice and I don’t want it to sound like bullshit. It’s a Saturday night, so as a 19 year old I feel like she’ll assume I’m hungover (legal to drink where I am) :/
There’s a really nice girl opening who I feel like will send me home, but if not another person is coming in at 10 so I might be able to go home then?
I’m not sure...I don’t want to be irresponsible and go to work knowing I’m sick and might be contagious but it’s also very late notice for my manager.
