Co Parenting

I just want some opinions. Is it reasonable that I ask where my child is going if he is going out of town with the other parent. I don’t need anymore information except when they take him out of town I’d like to be told, so that I know where he is, and that there’s no safety issues as I’d know where he is. I don’t need to know what they or doing or anything just that they are out of town. I’d also extend that same situation if I where to take the child out of town. I’m located in Canada not sure if it matters. I just want to know if it’s my right as a parent to know or am I being an ass? Thanks I dont need rude comments or anything just asking your thought on it.
