Downregulation

Megan

Hello ladies! So I am finally taking the steps for my first IVF procedure... my question is did anyone go through downregulation (I'm currently on bc pills and leuprolide injections) I did my first injection tonight and I'm hoping I did it correctly. What exactly does the down regulation do? Anybody have it help with the IVF procedure? Success stories doing it? Thanks in advance!

I’ve done Lupron and bc prior to starting estrogen. It’s just a way for them to regulate your hormones and try to make sure you aren’t ovulating prior to transfer. Good luck!!

Oh and I’ve done 4 IVF transfers for surrogacy. First one worked (she’s going to be 4 in April), 2nd and 3rd failed, and the 4th one is due in about 7 weeks. Honestly, I’ve found it really just depends on the embryo. The dr will get you in prime pregnancy condition; but the embryo has to do its job too!

Yes! I've just finished 3.5 weeks of suprecur. Downregulation puts you into a sort of menopause (not a problem, I only had a couple of hot flushes and a fuzzy head). It stops your ovaries from doing their thing and on it you'll get your period. They basically want to get you back to zero (v.thin uterus lining and ovaries are quiet) so they can grow all the eggs at once and get a nice fresh lining. I'm now on the stimulation drugs, it's literally been no problem so far. Good luck on your journey!
