how fast is the pill effective?

hey so i was recently put on the combination pill (alyacen 1/35) i was wondering how quickly the pill activates into my body and can be used as an effective birth control method alone. i’m getting mixed reviews online so i want to know what y’all know :)
started my period on Feb 13
just started taking the pill Sunday Feb 16

The pill works immediately if you take it within 5 days after starting your period. Using it as your only form of birth control is iffy because it’s effectiveness depends on how perfect you use it. If you only want that to be your only form of birth control i would try to take it around the same time every day and if you can’t i would definitely use another form of contraceptive with it.  I’m not a doctor or anything it’s just what my doctor told me to do when I asked her the same question.
