Do long distance relationships work? (Description fir details)

Question

I’ll be studying abroad from this September and I’ll be coming back on Christmas, Easter and summer holidays. I’m not in a relationship yet but I’m talking with someone. I don’t know what is best to do... I want to be with him but at the same time, can we make it happen? I’ve heard many stories that were both good and bad.

My husband and I were long distance. We actually met long distance - he was in the United States and I was in the United Kingdom. 
We made it work long distance for a little over 2 years - him flying here, me flying there throughout that time ...
As I said, he's now my husband and here in the UK full time - we are expecting our first baby any day now :)
Yes, it can totally work, yes it can completely be worth it. It can be hard work, takes a huge amount of trust and a lot of thinking outside the box when it comes to making ways to spend time together without actually being physically in the same space.....but if the relationship is worth it - yes, you can make it work

Worked for me. I’m an American married to an Englishman. We’re currently in the process of him immigrating here. It’s been so hard but the best thing I’ve ever done, he’s my soulmate

It won't work if only one of u makes the effect and not the other.. it requires alot of trust.. time.. and patience.. I did it for 2 years.. it was difficult but we had a plan.. I moved to be with him.. I house shared for abit to get myself used to the area and make friends.. then once I got a job.. settled.. we moved in together.. we are now married and I'm 30 weeks.. was it worth it? Hell yes.

It worked for my husband and I. We were long distance for 2 years and got married shortly after I moved to be closer to him. It was hard going through it (as many people made hurtful comments), but we’re happily married.
