D&C vs natural miscarriage - my experience
I have now had two missed miscarriages and experienced both forms of management.
The first time, I found out, and miscarried naturally the next day. It was 4-5 hours of intense contractions and bleeding as all of the tissue passed. It was much heavier than a period. Then light bleeding for 2 weeks.
The second time, I booked a D&C as the waiting and uncertainty about when it would happen was too much. Would I be home? At work? With my toddler? However spending 8 hours in hospital, having a general anesthetic and feeling very groggy for hours, was awful. I have since had almost 24 hours of intense contractions and minimal bleeding. It is very painful and debilitating. I don’t know that I would choose it again.
