Those of you who had sweeps BEFORE your due date: did it work?

It did for me! My baby was estimated to be 10 pounds if I made it to my due date so my doctor was willing to encourage labor a little earlier. She thought I would need 2 sweeps (one at my 37 week appointment and one at 38 weeks) but the first one worked. I had the sweep done at 37w3d, lost my mucus plug the next day, and my water broke at 37w6d.

It worked for me. My first was 9 days late and he weighed basically 10lbs, my doctor wanted me to avoid that happening for my second. I got my sweep at 40w1d, and within 6 hours I had dilated an additional 5 cm and was admitted to the hospital. She was born about 13 hours after the sweep!

Yup! Got one at my 39 week appt (Tuesday) and gave birth on that Friday.

It did for me, here in the UK they don't tend to do them until you're past your due date unless reason to do them sooner. So I got to my due date and they did a sweep and it started making me lose my plug. Then I got one 5 days later and it started my contractions straight away but think I would of gone into labour soon anyway and midwife said when she did the sweep I was 3cm and she could feel baby's head. She was delivered the next day after 27 hours in labour
