Is it really bad to sooth your baby to sleep at night.?

Honestly.. Is it really that bad to cuddle and rock my baby to sleep at night?
He will eventually grow out of it.. I am really skeptical of turning into 3yo needing me to rock him to sleep..he is a bit clingy at night but he's my baby if he wasn't id probably be sad. During the day he gets a lot of play time by himself and he's fine when im out of the room but I just realized that its been 6mo and he still needs me to sleep.. Is it like detrimental to their health that he needs me... In your opinion..

No it’s not bad. I had to stop because my daughter was too reliant on it and needed it every time she woke up which was like 4-5 times a night at that point. She wasn’t able to fall asleep on her own so it wasn’t working for any of us.

Here’s what you can tell your in-laws: “I will do what works for my baby and our family.” And then change the subject. It’s none of their business

I think it’s 100% whatever works for you. My babe is the same, also 6 months. Getting him to sleep alone was impossible so we’ve been bedsharing almost all of the time since day 1. Right now I’m just starting to try to ease him into the crib (in our room) a bit more. Just because he still wakes up a lot at night and I’m hoping he can learn to soothe himself back to sleep more if he’s in the crib. Right now he’s very dependent on comfort nursing back to sleep at least 2-3 times a night. And I think sleeping next to him, I’m too sensitive to him tossing and turning so I rush to comfort him when he’s not even crying and maybe he’d be ok on his own 🤷🏻‍♀️

If it’s not bothering u or causing a hassle then I see no problem with it! If u plan on more children that’s when I would try to get into a new routine. I would say if ur child shows signs of not needing it then go with it though.

No. My daughter is 8 months and I still do. Babies are still babies. They aren’t grown just because they aren’t a very newborn. They still need help with things and they still need love and comfort.

No it’s not. If your fine with it. It’s fine. If your not then make changes but I rock my baby to sleep at 18m and I personally move the bonding time. My 3.5 year old prefers a story before bed, they out grow it and it’s a bit sad but also happy cause they are learning new skills and becoming independent without forcing it on them.

It’s neither bad nor good, it’s just something that your baby will get used to and rely on. Which can be difficult when they wake overnight and need to be rocked back to sleep. But if you’re happy doing it then that’s fine

Nope! We don’t rock to sleep but my mom did to us for years. Its funny though bc I got so used to the motion of rocking, that as a 33 year old I still rock myself to sleep by moving side to side in bed. My husband was like “what the heck?!” Now if he goes to bed later than me he misses the motion and has a harder time going to bed. 🤣🤣🤣
