Hospital bag?

Question

I know this post has been made a million times but I want to bring the bare minimum with us to the hospital, so what was most important for you or what do you suggest is an absolute necessity? We also live less then 10 minutes away so my husband can always go home for stuff. 
The hospital provides everything for the baby so I’m only bringing 2 coming home outfits incase one doesn’t fit and the car seat. 
The hospital also provides all feminine aftercare products for me during my stay.

Sleeping/recovery clothes for you - I recommend nursing (if you’re breastfeeding) type gowns that are dark colors. With the gowns it’s easier for them to check you out without much effort on your part plus you can hike them up above your hips so you can avoid any kind of blood leaking on them which means less changing for you. Dark colors also hide blood stains so it saves you from having to throw them out down the road. I was fine with just two gowns. Robe if you have spaghetti strap type sleeping gowns - hospital could be cold and you’ll want something comfy covering your arms but open in the front for easy access. Socks/slippers - honestly I was fine with socks to walk around with until it came time to walk with my regular shoes out of the hospital. I never used my slippers but I’m sure if you hate sleeping with socks on slippers would be easier to slip on and off for bathroom breaks. Clothes for baby - be mindful you may want to have extra clothes on hand for accidental pee/poo leaks. Hospital should provide stuff but in case you need something quickly it’s nice to have it on hand rather than wait for a nurse to show up. Not that you can’t have your partner go home and grab extra stuff as well but you may not want him/her to do that at 3am so pack a few. Nipple balm - if you’re breastfeeding go ahead and start using nipple balm after each feeding. It’ll help prevent cracks/bleeding. Facial care (chapstick, face wipes, moisturizer) - after labor you may have chapped lips so bring chapstick, you may be too tired to wash your face so face wipes are nice to have on hand, and you may want something moisturizing for your face to combat the dry winter air. Hair ties - seems obvious but don’t forget to pack a handful and put them in a ziplock. Show partner exactly where they are so you can avoid the whole digging through the bag at 3am scenario. Snacks - if you’re breastfeeding or love snacking at 3am bring small type snacks (think granola bars) to snack on while you wait for the hospital to start serving food. Breastfeeding makes you HUNGRY so I’m not kidding - bring snacks. Nursing pads - if you’re breastfeeding you will want nursing pads so you aren’t changing out of your clothes every feeding if you have heavy letdowns right away (I did!). Nursing bra - if you’re breastfeeding- I was good with just two nursing sports bra type bras. You could probably get away with just nursing tanks if you don’t want to wear the sports bra type ones. Car seat - duh. Going home outfit for baby - I only bring one outfit because you aren’t leaving the hospital right after you give birth. Your partner can go grab a bigger or smaller outfit if necessary in the time you’re in the hospital. Going home outfit for you - sweatpants are your friend. 
Luxury item that isn’t minimalist but small enough to stuff anywhere - sleep mask! While it’s not definitely needed it is nice to have. You’ll be up every 1-2 hours (from baby or nurses checking in) and being able to nap in between is so important. If the room is too bright you may not get that extra vital sleep. 
Second luxury item not minimalist - nursing pillow if you’re breastfeeding. Trying to figure out nursing is tough as is so make it easier on yourself and use a nursing pillow. Sure you can ask for extra pillows for support but nothing beats a good nursing pillow.

Literally if you show up to the hospital with NOTHING you will be okay. They provide all the stuff you need minus clothes of course, but I worse the same clothes home that I wore to the hospital and our hospital gives us enough stuff for the first week, diapers, wipes, outfit, hat. And for those who couldn't afford carseats, they have some they give out to those who aren't able to leave and go get one 
I just packed my robe and slippers for comfort and a cute outfit for baby girl and a swaddle but that's all I plan on taking

I know it sounds dumb but snacks! I was soooo hungry after I had my second and the kitchen wasn’t open yet for breakfast. It’s nice to have stuff in your room if you get hungry.

I appreciate all the hospital bag posts. I forget and go back and check to see what others are bringing. I also dont want to bring much. Two outfits for baby, baby blanket, chapstick, phone charger, comfy jammies to wear home, slippers, non slip socks, slippers, toothpaste(I know they have it there but I really like my brand),robe, deodorant,favorite lotion, Bb cream for light coverage if I even care at that point, ponytail holders, husbands change of clothes and his toiletries. I might add something based on others lists but that's it for us.

I have some cozy pjs, robe, nursing bra, some big underwear, yoga pants, non slip fuzzy socks, lotion, toothbrush & toothpaste, lotion, hair ties & Bobby pins, deodorant, my hair product, and phone charger.
For baby girl, I’m bringing a swaddle, newborn sleeper, and 0-3 sleeper bc I’m not sure which she’ll fit into.
