Does Sydney sound too much like Cindy?

We love this name but worried she might get called Cindy. We also have a family member named Cindy so hoping it wouldnt be too confusing.

It sounds similar but I would only worry about it if it were immediate family. My aunt and I have the exact  same name because I'm named after her and we've always figured it out.

In the great words of my mother! People are going to mispronounce your kids name no matter what! You and eventually your kid will just have to correct them and that is perfectly okay. I want to name my girl “Nathalia” (nah-tal-leah) and i was worried people would call her “Natalie”

So just thought someone would find it as funny as I do: my brother in law is named Christian, and his brother is Christopher. Literally both Chris. So Sydney vs Cindy is not bad at all!

I didn’t vote because they are similar especially if you say them quickly, but I would still use it unless the family member was her sister. That would be confusing on a daily basis. Otherwise, if the first time people accidentally hear “Cindy” I’m sure they will correct it quickly as Sydney isn’t a challenging name.

I have known several Sydneys, and I don’t think they had any major problems with being called Cindy. I don’t know of any children named Cindy, so I think with the popularity of Sydney that would be their first thought even if there was confusion about it.
