My son is extremely head down since 27 weeks, I’ve felt him stretch once and push on my lower rib but never kick. His kicks and punches are all belly button or lower!

Your babe can be head down but still kinda sideways if that makes sense, that's the position my guy is almost always in so I get kicked on my right side like all the way back to my kidney. Also depends on how they have their feet🤷🏻‍♀️

My baby has been head down a long time and the kicks are more forward and to the side, not in the ribs but well above belly button. I think what I feel in my ribs is my own organs being crammed.
