First response early result?

Been ttc for 28 months and had what I thought was going to be a period Feb 24-26 it was different from my normal. Really light pink for a day then almost period red for a few hours then to brown for the last day and half then 3 days later woke up to a couple spots in my underwear. I decided to take a first response yesterday morning and got a slight line that showed up at 2 min but have to really look so my dr says come do a blood test, that it's still too early for urine but aren't these test supposed to tell you up to 6 days before a missed cycle. Anyone else been through this? What happened?
