Cat peeing on carpet in new house; help?!
We adopted our 6 year old cat 3 years ago. Right when we got her, she was peeing all over our old house (on beds, bath rugs, we only had tile on floors). We took her to the vet, she had a UTI and after that the peeing stopped except sometimes she would go on the bath mat for no apparent reason, so we removed the bath mat and she stopped. A year later, she started doing it again. Took her to vet, another UTI. She got treatment and it stopped, she’s been on special urinary tract food & only has purified water. We built a new house and moved in about a week and a half ago. Second day I noticed that some clothes on the floor of our master closet she peed on. I stopped leaving clothes out. The past few days I noticed she had poop in her litter box daily but only 1-2 pees every 24 hours. Usually she has 5-7 little spots in her box. I smelled around the litter box area (on carpet) and she has been peeing around it even though I always change her box twice a day. I am at a loss. What can I do? She hasn’t been displaying any signs or symptoms that she’s in pain. I plan on redoing floors to remove carpet in about a year, but until then I do not know how to get her to stop peeing on carpet. Carpet is everywhere in our new house except kitchen, entry, and laundry room. Help!!!!
