Sex Outside Fertile Window

I’ve recently come off the pill for good. I am aware when I ovulate and have a regular cycle. I track cervical mucus at the moment and will be adding bbt next cycle.

I haven’t found a clear answer so I was wondering: Outside of your fertile window, do you/should you use pull out method or barrier method? (can be personal experience or your recommendation)

On the pill he would almost always finish in me and I was totally fine with that, wondering if we can still do that and when it’s safer to do.
