Is messaging cheating?

I was just on my SO phone - not snooping just looking at this group chat but a message popped up from another woman saying ‘yeah you?x’ I went on the chat next to him and there seemed to be no conversation. He eventually admitted that he did message her he just deleted his message to her so I wouldn’t find out but it was a big mistake and he don’t know why he did it... I’m so consumed by emotions and I don’t know whether to leave. I don’t want to get into the habit of ‘collecting red flags’ if you know what I mean. Any advice please?❤️

It's a precursor to cheating. Plus I don't buy that "I don't know why I did it" excuse.  He had enough forethought to delete the messages; he knew EXACTLY what he was doing.

If he has to hide it then he knows he shouldn’t have done it

If you didn’t catch him.. would it still have been a mistake ? He deletes messages .. was it the first message they sent or have they been talking ? Are you okay with the doubt? Every situation is different. Trust your gut.

It depends on what was said and why. If he didn’t want you to see it, then probably. But also if you’re the type to blow everything out of proportion I would understand.
