Is this weird??

I just had my 16w appt yesterday and they still havent even mentioned doing the glucose test yet. And i think ive gained about 20lbs since being pregnant too. Im plus size as well. I expected them to be all over it. Ive been anxious anticipating it but havent been told to do it yet.

The first one is usually 26-28 weeks unless you need an early one. With my first pregnancy, I had one at 13 weeks and one at 28 weeks. I had one early because literally everyone on my side of the family is diabetic. I was well below each time.

My OB told me they don't normally test until 3rd trimester. I was concerned from the beginning, since type 2 runs in my family. I did a sugar cleanse, no sugar or carbs for 2 weeks (not calorie restriction, I ate as much as i wanted of protein and leafy greens) and the OB said it was fine. I even lost weight, but my pants are still shrinking, so I'm probably losing water/fat. If you're worried about it, try to watch what you eat (not necessarily amount, you don't want to deprive right now) and get some light exercise like walking or swimming.

They would of told you if you needed to do it , they only do it if your high risk for it now.

Its normally done between 24 to 26 weeks. If you're concerned you could always talk to your doctor about having the test done early.
