Baby shower & coronavirus. Are you having one?

I was planning one in May but now very scared about coronavirus. Getting a lot forwards asking ppl to avoid first gathering and all. It’s my first pregnancy after struggling for years, so I’m bummed and not sure. What do you guys think??

I’m in the same boat. Planned to have a shower in May and this being our 1st baby after 2 years of trying so I definitely feel you on this. We’re also flying from Texas to Wisconsin for ours as we don’t live by our families. As of now we’re still planning to go through with our baby shower and will make our final decision in April. Hopefully everything’s more calmed down and controlled by then.

Whenever we have get togethers we have always asked for people who are ill to not come... before all of this, I have some family with immune compromised health's so that's why we try to do that. I'd say go ahead and have it... if some people would be susceptible then they could possible video chat in or visit you separately at a later time, and then ask those who are sick or around someone who is sick to please wait to visit until better. You might have less guests, but at least you will still have it and everyone will be as safe as possible. Plus I trust my family to tell me they are sick more than strangers roaming the grocery aisle

I would just wait and see how things are by April. I would still plan to have it you can always cancel at the last minute if you really feel the need. Hopefully by April things will settle down.

I hoping by the time I have my shower it will be hot and the virus will die off. We were planning for June but July could be good too. There are so many unknowns right now.

All you have to do is ask the people invited not to come if they’re feeling sick, and just ask that people wash their hands and take precautions, and you do the same.

Also everyone please remember that people can have the virus for 2weeks, give or take, before showing any symptoms.

I'm having mine after baby is born and has had some time at home, probably Thanksgiving. My sister's baby shower is in a month, my dad is personally handing out invite and asking people to be aware of their health. We are also going to be very careful at the shower, minimize baby holding and ask people to use sanitizer and wash hands. That said, my city and surrounding areas has not had any confirmed cases.
