Getting a puppy?!

Question

My husband and I are debating getting a Beagle puppy.  What are your thoughts with a Beagle and a 1 year old?  HELP!

Puppies are the worst! They're cuteness makes people forget about how hard they are to take care of. It is seriously 10xs harder than a toddler (and this is coming from a dog lover).
We got our last puppy in 2018 and I told my husband never again.  I will only get adult dogs from here on out.
I would definitely suggest you rethink your decision ...

My beagle is absolutely wonderful, but requires a decent amount of direction. He is amazing with my baby and cats, but is relentless in trying to get to cat food, deer poop, anything he isn’t supposed to eat. He also needs to be contained when we are outside since he isn’t interested in just hanging out at home like our labs are. 
If you are willing to put the effort in, getting a puppy is great! You just need to be sure you and all the other adults in the house are willing to put in 100% so training is effective. It is a nightmare if not.

I had a beagle as a baby/toddler and he was my best friend! Then he got hit by a motorcycle when I was 3-4  and I’m pretty sure it’s my very first memory 😳😳😳 
Not that that will happen to you, of course! But yes, go for it!!

I have  a beagle. He is SO good with my daughter. He NEVER growled or bit her. He is hyper, but very gentle with her from day 1. We got him when he was 6 months old ( daughter was 3 months) and he always liked to lay down next to her. He let's her crawl over him and mess with him. When he has had enough of her, he just looks at me. 
I was hesitant on getting a dog, but he is so good with her. He is just hyper and stubborn lol. 
And his nose smells EVERYTHING!

My friend just got a French bulldog puppy and I will say he was pretty rough on my son, immediately biting his ears and climbing on his back... and the puppy was RELENTLESS. My son wasn't impressed. I mean, maybe it wouldn't be like that for you, and maybe if they spent more time together it would change, but something to think about!
