Could you have a positive opk but not ovulate?

I just got a very strong positive opk. The test line was much darker than control. I’m in my 10th month ttc and I’m convinced I have pcos just from symptoms but not diagnosed. Although my ovulation test was very much positive, my cervix is low and medium/soft firmness and I don’t have much cm. Is it possible I’m not ovulating?

Yes, definitely possible! OPKS detect the LH surge that occurs prior to ovulation, but you could experience a surge in LH, and your body may fail to ovulate..Ovulation tests do not detect/confirm ovulation, only an ultrasound and blood testing can do that.

Yes. That’s why OPKs are often unreliable for many women, especially if you do have PCOS.
OPKs only check for a surge in LH, which means ovulation is being attempted (or may have already happened). You can have a positive before, during, or after ovulation depending on how high your LH actually peaks and what level the tests look for. Women with PCOS often have multiple LH peaks before ovulation is successful, but that can also happen for women without PCOS.
You can also have nothing but negative OPKs and still ovulate. OPKs should ONLY ever be used in conjunction with at least basal body temperature (BBT) to confirm. I personally recommend Fertility Awareness Method which utilizes cervical fluid and bbt at minimum, with cervix position and/or OPKs as optional extra signs.
