I don’t think “European” is the word I would use, even though it is European. It is traditionally an Italian name but is also commonly used throughout Eastern Europe as well. So to me, using it to name your child if you are not one of those ethnicities, just sounds weird to me. Which is why I don’t get the trend of everyone suddenly naming their sons Luca. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice name, but it clashes for me. 
For example, I really think the name Giacomo is really cool, but my last name is German, and those would just sound silly together.

Pretty sure it’s a Mediterranean name sooo it sounds European because it is European.

That’s what we are naming our baby.... But my husband IS European 😊 But honestly it’s super popular in the US now too
