Would you keep working? Pregnant housekeeper.

I am 24 weeks pregnant, I am a private residential housekeeper. Every single day when I am off to work to clean other people’s homes my anxiety is through the roof! I want so badly to be able to stay home without consequences. We can do without the money, as husband is working a great job and his business is essential. I’m afraid if I call off my clients for a while to self isolate my entire business I’ve built will die off and I’ll have zero income and have to start from the ground up after baby comes I just don’t know if it’s safe or a good idea to keep working in people’s homes, our area has a “shelter in place” order but many businesses are still operating. Am I risking too much by continuing to work?

If your clients don’t understand why your stopping for a little while then they’re not very good to begin with. Just wright up a letter and tell them due to this reason your services will be unavailable till a certain date. GL girl.

It sounds like it’s causing you anxiety. Just stop. You don’t need the money. Who cares if you have to rebuild your business? And if you have understanding clients they’ll get that you had to stop due to your pregnancy and take you back after the baby is born. We’re in the high risk category. Plus the baby already pushes up on our lung space and COVID is a respiratory illness. We already have limited lung space, don’t make it worse with COVID. It would be terrible. I read an article that people with severe case are basically drowning from liquid in their lungs. You don’t not want this, it’s not worth it. I’m in favor of not working if you’re worried you are exposing yourself, especially because you don’t need to.

I’m a nanny and I stopped going in last week. It was a difficult decision because I didn’t want to put my nanny family in a bind but they didn’t believe any of this pandemic was a big deal and weren’t taking things seriously, so that made my decision easier. It’s not worth the risk to me, my baby or my toddler, as well as my husband who has chronic bronchitis. You need to do what’s best for yourself.. if you can do without the money, stay home ❤️

Maybe cut back the time you're at each residence, reduce your hours. Just tell them it's to limit possible exposure to and/or spread of the virus. I'm sure your clients will work with you to figure out a schedule that works or even budget their need for your services at this time. Everyone is being affected by this issue, I'm sure they can adapt for a short time to manage on their own.

If your husband is earning enough, I would prioritise my pregnancy. I’m 22 weeks and I made the decision to stay at home a lot, my career comes second simply because I prioritise my health 🙏🏻

Im in school full time and working part time hours. To me the risk and anxiety wasn’t worth the couple of bucks especially since my husband also is working a great job and able to take on the finances. Since staying at home and not having so much anxiety about going out I feel way more at ease. Less stress on baby too!

I work for a vet (currently considered essential) as a technician and my boss told me today that she no longer wants me coming in to protect me. I’d stay home.

I wouldn’t risk it. If money isn’t an issue for you then I would just stay home for the time being
