Worm snake?

I have always found snakes facinating and part of me wants a snake. But I love mice more, so I just kind of decided I'd never have one.

But the other day I saw a snake keeper with a rough green snake, it was beautiful bright green, only gets to 2 feet long and eats bugs. I did some research and found that they are endangered in my state and therefore illegal to have as pets.

BUT I discovered the worm snake, not as pretty but still small and eats worms. So it seems pretty reasonable to keep.

Obviously I'm not getting any new pets right now, and I won't get a pet without doing proper research.

Anyone ever hear of these or have any themselves?
