Do you wait for an U/S to find out the gender ?

So I noticed not many people know about the blood test at 9 weeks, that is able to identify the gender of the baby. It’s your blood they test, non invasive. And it’s done around the same time as the Down Syndrome Test! It’s amazing!💗👶🏼 Some doctor offices don’t have the tests, so just ask your doctor about the test to find out if you have the option. You don’t have to wait mommas! 🤰🏼😃

I guess most people wait since those test are really expensive. Where I live it cost like 1.000 US dollars. Insurance won’t cover it unless there is high risk.

I waited until my 20 week ultrasound to find out the gender. And I didn't do any genetic testing either.

I want to wait for the US, but will be doing the genetic test after 11 weeks since I am over 35 years old.  Basically you might have a Y chromosome in your bloodstream already if you have a baby boy. The absence of that chromosome means you have a girl. That is what the genetic blood test will see. I was told the test should be done after 10 weeks to catch all the genetic markers, but I think some women are doing a cotton swab DNA test before that since the sex of your fetus shows up in the blood pretty early. I just want to have the surprise on the US that is why I am waiting.

My insurance covers it, but I still have to pay the deductible... so it could potentially cost me somewhere around $600. 
Not to mention my doctors office isn’t even offering it right now because it’s not necessary and they aren’t allowing unnecessary appointments/bloodwork into their office or labs.

Genetic testing is quite expensive in some areas, and insurance does not always cover. And although you can find out whether baby is girl or not, they are done for purposes of genetic testing foremost.

I have waited til my 18-20 week US to find out the gender with all three of mine.

I used sneak peak last time. I’m gonna see if I can get medical testing though this time, if state insurance will cover it. I’m keeping my fingers crossed! If not I’ll use sneak peak.
