My husband works in an IT company he got through an agency. *He has been working there for 3 months *His manager said his job is essential so they have to work to get paid by the job... The job told him he can choose to stay home but If he doesn’t work the job doesnt pay him. 
He has a compromised respiratory system and has so much going on with his health so he has been staying home for couple of days now. Can he apply for UNEMPLOYMENT ??? * He has plans on going back to work later*
The only people i see applying are people whom their job is completely shutdown but idk if he would still qualify.

Depends on ur state , I know for us you will have to have been laid off or had hours cut non voluntary, and the job approves it with unemployment

In order to apply for unemployment you need to be willing and available to work. He can try to see if he can get on disability.

He probably won’t qualify with that job. Some states go back 2 years though. So if he was employed (not a contractor; not working thru agency) during that time, he may be able to get it.

No but I would have him talk to his employer to see if he can go on family or medical leave. Technically it’s not “medical leave” if he isn’t actually sick, but some employers are being more flexible with that given the situation. In my state theyd pay him 66% for 12 weeks if he was on leave like that

Agree with Kim. I work in HR in Colorado and Nebraska and it heavily depends on what your state is doing. Here, even if your hours have just been cut, you can qualify for unemployment. Where in Nebraska, because they haven’t shut anything down and people home are only a volunteer basis; the typical unemployment rules are still intact. However... Rules and regulations are changing daily to accommodate COVID. In a matter of 24 hours it can be completely different. I watch 1-2 webinars a day with alterations just to keep up with what’s going on with the state and employment! Typically, no, he would not qualify. Right now? It’s very in the air.

Nope hes choosing not to work, hes not getting laid off and he  hasent been there long enough to qualify even if he were laid off
