Birth control

So I’m really wanting to switch my birth control pill to the nexplanon arm implant. I’m on my 3rd different pill and it’s just not for me, mostly cus I’m scared to trust it. Anyways nexplanon is the most effective but I’m just nervous, I’ve heard where it’s great and horror stories. There are no in betweens. What’s everyone’s opinions.

Second question, I’m due for my three month check up for my newest pill and I don’t know how this will work. Should I mention to my doctor over the phone that I want the nexplanon so they can have it for me? Or no matter what will have to talk to my doctor and then make another appointment for the insertion? My doctor is currently two hours away so I’d like to do it all in one day
