Confused with this landlord

Hey maybe someone can help me out . I just put down first months and my security in a new apartment. I told the landlord that I can move in May because my current lease ends the end of April and i mandatory have to give my landlord 30 days of notice that I’m leaving . Any way the landlord I put my money with for my new apartment wants me to take over the apartment In April pay April rent but NOT LIVE THERE! On my receipts it literally says move in date 5/1/2020 . I’m a single mom and my job cut my hours due to the virus and I financially can’t put more money towards this apartment and still pay my April rent . Any advice!
