Birth control

Hi girlies! I recently started taking birth control it’s been a month, I take the tri lo sprintec and it has a low hormone compare to some other types of pills and other birth control methods. My question is does it work the same at preventing pregnancy? And I’m using it correctly at the same time every single day, is it safe to have unprotected sex being on birth control even though it’s a small dose? I can’t speak to my doctor as we are all in quarantine so I decided to post on here :)
