Is he helping enough??
My SO and I have been arguing the past couple weeks because he thinks he’s helping enough with the baby and I don’t.
To start out, he works nights. Usually he works 5pm-1am. Two nights a week, he works 8pm-4am. When he gets home, the first thing he does is turns on the Xbox and he plays until at least 5am. Sometimes he’s not even going to bed until I get up at 6:30 with the baby. He doesn’t wake up until at least 1pm, usually closer to 2 or 2:30pm. Then he has to take a shower, and he ends up spending an hour in the bathroom. He leaves for work at 4:30, so that leaves only an hour for him to help me with the baby during the day, but he usually spends that playing Xbox too.
It really wasn’t so bad until our daughter started going through the 4 month sleep regression. Now, she’s not sleeping at all. She’s waking up at least twice an hour, all night long. So I’m not getting any sleep, and I’m also not getting any help from him except on his days off (he’s a great dad on his days off work).
I’ve BEGGED him to please start going to bed around 4am so that he could wake up at 12 and I can nap for an hour or two before he has to go to work. And he always says he will, but when I go to wake him up, he always has an excuse for why he stayed up until after 5. I’m going crazy and I need sleep.
Am I asking for too much from him??
