If you believe in young Earth creationism how do you explain or interpret events that happened more than 10,000 years ago?

I had never heard of this view before today and I’m curious how people who follow this would explain what scientists believe happened prior to this timeline/ what your view of those things are and why you believe in this?
For those who don’t know what this is, this is what I have found online regarding this belief.

I believe in it. I’m not sure how to explain it. 
My mom found a DVD called Is Genesis History?, and I think it talks about it? (Not a “Oh, you HAVE to watch it, it’s the best thing everrrr”—if you were looking for more info explained pretty well)
