7 week old baby digestive issues?
Have any of you ever felt with something g like this?
My daughter is 7 weeks old. She eats exclusively breast milk. About 2 weeks ago, she had a couple episodes of projectile vomiting shortly after eating. She is also extremely fussy- I’m talking bloody murder screaming, usually while passing gas, but not always.
We called her pediatrician, but because of Covid 19, they are limiting actual office visits so we did a phone consultation. He was worried about the projectile vomiting, and sent us for an ultrasound to check for Pyloric Stenosis. We were finally able to get it today, Friday, and we won’t have results until at least Tuesday.
He also suggested we switch her to formula for a while, to kind of “reset” her so we could find out if something I’ve been eating was causing her extreme gas. We picked up a formula specifically for milk allergy and colic from the dr office and started her on it today. She immediately (within 10 minutes) vomited/ spit up (not projectile) the 2 ounces she drank of it. I figured it was a fluke, and about an hour later, when she got hungry, tried the formula again. Again she vomited/ spit up everything.
We decided to try a different formula (one for sensitive stomaches, but milk based). She seemed to be fine with it until her 2AM feeding, about 5 hours after last eating. I woke up to the sound of her vomiting, just a little. We got her cleaned up, and started feeding her a bottle of the sensitive formula. She was barely an ounce in when she spit it all back up.
While cleaning her up, she vomited again (gurgling stomach, took a while for anything to actually come up, ended up coming out her nose as well as her mouth).
We got her cleaned up again, and decided to just breastfeed her. As she had been at least keeping breast milk down. It’s been about 20 minutes, and so far so good.
Her diaper was also still dry (had been changed about 10:30pm before going down for her long stretch of the night.
Obviously I will be speaking to her doctor as soon as possible, and calling the ER if she continues to be unable to keep anything down.
Has anyone experienced anything like this, and what did it turn out to be? No
