Should I be allowed to say I have endometriosis?
So since I was 16-17 I get really bad pains in my uterus/ ovaries that feeling like I'm being stabbed from the inside. I talked to several doctors, my general practitioner, my OBGYN, and a gastroenterologist to be sure it wasn't anything with my stomach or intestines. I had several blood tests and ultrasounds but they weren't able to find anything. My OBGYN said it was most likely endometriosis but we couldn't diagnose it officially without a surgery which would cause more pain than I was having. This was all about 5 years ago. I started taking birth control for it which helps but I don't get periods anymore and I still get the stabbing pains when I'm not on my period.
I don't really know for sure if I have endometriosis but since then I've put it on medical forms and tell people I have it. Sometimes I feel like I'm lying about it since it might be something else that the doctors missed. From what I've read it does seem like the most likely cause and I have no clue what else it could be.
To those who have been officially diagnosed with endometriosis: how were you diagnosed? I know some people can be diagnosed through ultrasounds depending where the growth is but nothing showed up on any of mine. Do you think it's unfair or dishonest of me to claim I have a condition that I might not have? What do you do too help cramps and pain?
