Help?!

Question

I really want to learn how to crochet and start. Can some recommend where to get crochet hooks and what kind of yarn. Maybe to make some booties or a Beenie for a baby? Also any tips and ideas

Check out ravelry for free patterns and paid ones when you have got some confidence with it. You should be able to order crochet hooks and yarn from any craft store. I'm not sure where you are but in the UK there are lots of independent yarn/fabric shops and a lovely company called wool warehouse for more specific buying as some of the smaller ones won't have the stock levels. I would recommend you tube tutorials with Bella Coco. She taught me to crochet. I only started in November and have made all sort of things since then, coasters, blankets, small amigarumi figures, ear savers for health workers.

I really enjoy the knifty knitter, you can get them off Amazon. I can do hats in 20 -40 mins depending on yarn size. I like bulky weight 5 or 6, and some acrylic yarns are so soft, but you will get a feel for what you like to knit with. Don't buy anything too expensive until you find your groove.

Most yarn stores have hooks and knitting needles. I personally hate acrylic/polyester yarn and only buy wool  or wool mix yarn. Be sure to use the correct size hook/needle to the pattern and yarn. Good patterns have a recommended size listed.
Garnstudio.com have a lot of good free patterns and good instruction videos.
