Time with “if it happens, it happens” mindset to conceive?

Hey folks! 
My SO and I are on our first cycle with this new ‘if it happens, it happens’ philosophy with sex. We used condoms as our only form of contraception before, so it’s not like I’m coming off of hormones. I know it takes healthy couples up to a year to conceive when truly trying, so I don’t have high hopes. With all of that, how long did it take you to conceive, if you did end up pregnant from this? Or did you have to try? 
I can already tell I’m going to be heartbroken if tests keep coming up negative so maybe I should just start being more aggressive. Thought I’d check in here first though!

If you’re going to be heartbroken with negatives, definitely don’t try the “if it happens” approach..... even with “perfect execution and timing” there’s only a 30% chance max each cycle of conception

I stopped taking birth control around April 2018, and got pregnant in January 2019. We used the "if it happens, it happens" method. Honestly I didn't really end up heart broken a lot. I kept track of my period and I didn't test until it was a few days late. And I never tested before I was suppose to have my period. I think that helped avoiding a lot of heart break.

If it happens it happens number 1 - 6 months but my partner was away for 2 months of that. So 4 months trying spread over 6 months.
Number 2 - 2 months. Baby is 5 months now and I'm 2 months pregnant

I have been trying since I stopped BC pills mid January.

I came off my pill in early march this year we decided to do the if it happens it happens approach, found out yesterday im 5 weeks pregnant, i wish you all the luck in the world! 🥰

We did that for almost three years and did not get pregnant then it took almost a year of actively trying. I’m now pregnant with baby #2 and again it took almost a year of actively trying

Went off birth control in January and got pregnant in May! Loosely tracked period but that was it! I now have a wonderfully perfect 13 month old🥰

I have pcos and with our first it took 13 cycles.
Now we’re TTC our second and next month is 2 years.. the past 5 months have been ovulation induction and I’m 4dpo and I’m so hopeful this cycle is it. We did a lot of things different 🤞🏻

2 years of if it happens it happens and 2 years of actively trying (tracking, timed intercourse, some medicated cycles, etc) and nothing.  I have PCOS.
Everyone is different though maybe you’ll be one of the lucky ones it happens to the first time!

I have PCOS but we initially got pregnant within 3 months of no longer preventing pregnancy. It unfortunately ended in early miscarriage, and I fell back into my depression for a while. 
It’s been 3 years since then, we’ve been actively TTC for about 2 years, I’ve been able to regulate my cycles and I recently started implementing FAM. 
I would say for a healthy couple with no underlying conditions, 6-12 months would be a good timeline for “if it happens, it happens.”
