Children staying at hospital?

Question

I'm due in August. The only place my 3 year old could stay while we have the baby is their grandparents house, but their grandparents are really not the best people and I don't want them around them too much.
I was thinking they could stay there just for one night until the baby is actually born, and then they could stay at the hospital with us.
Last time their father stayed at the hospital with me and slept in his own hospital bed next to mine. He'll be doing the same this time, same hospital. 
I don't see why our 3 year old couldn't share a bed with him for probably only about 2 nights. We'll leave as soon as we're able to. 
Has anyone ever done this? Do you know if children are allowed to stay the night at hospitals with their parents? 
Our 3 year old is very well behaved and definitely wouldnt be getting into anything, they'd have their tablet with educational games and a sketchbook to draw in.

Children aren’t allowed to stay overnight at the hospital even before Covid19 and now things are even more strict. You’re going to need to find someone to stay with your child

Our hospital does not allow that. I would send your husband home to stay with your 3yr old if you dont want the grandparents keeping them more than 1 night.

So I’m a nurse practitioner and I will say 80% of hospitals will not allow your child to stay overnight with you. There are special ￼ circumstances, but lack of childcare isn’t one of them. Labor is hard as I’m sure you know and no child needs to see their parent in pain, they will not understand. Children get in the way during lifesaving procedures. Your husband will have to take them out of the room anyways so whats the point of him being there? I suggest you start looking into a reliable babysitter who can watch your child for a few days. Really get to know them and plan on paying a good bit of money.

I doubt it, why can’t you just have your partner go home for the night and then come back to you next day? That’s what we have to do here in UK the fathers arnt aloud to spend the night unless the woman still haven’t yet given birth etc. The following days after birth dad leaves about 10ish then returns next morning. Then you’ll only need to sort childcare for your 3 year old for day time 🤷🏻‍♀️ if grandparents are close enough he can drop and pick up on way to and from hospital.

Our hospitals here allow siblings to stay over night under age 14. Id double check and explain the situation to them.

You would have to check your specific hospital policy. A lot of hospitals won’t let any visitors under 18 stay the night. With covid going on their restrictions might be even tighter even come August

I dont know what your hospital policy is but I'd call and ask them. I know my hospital right now won't allow any visitors children or not unless it's the father of the child and they have to stay there with you the entire time. I'm pretty sure it isn't allowed. You'll have to find someone to watch your kids.

Hospitals won’t allow that. I’m going to wait and see what happens with Covid. If things improve and we can safely do it, we will have my son’s caregiver come back and care for him while I give birth. In the worst case scenario and we can’t safely have anyone, my husband will have to stay home. It really sucks but just taking it one day at a time.
