Kids with my best friend?

Me and my best friend who is also my sexual friend made a baby pledge the other night. I vented to him about how I don’t feel I want to have a relationship with anyone (comes with being sexually assaulted a few years back). Truthfully I would marry/be with my best friend only because of our comfort level with each other. Is it bad that I want to try for kids with my best friend knowing that I’ll be doing it by myself (granted id have my friends and family) but without a husband or boyfriend by my side?

I think you’ll get a lot of opinions on this especially to do with it’s unfair not to give the child a chance to have a dad and that kind of things but this is my view. I personally believe a child only needs one parent. There is no ‘normal’ these days when it comes to parents. Some kids have two dads, some have two mums, some have one of each, some have just a dad and some have just a mum. I personally think as long as you are willing to put in the effort and make just having a mum as normal as possible for your child then go for it! As long as you know they might ask about their dad one day and you have a plan on what you’re going to tell them then go for it! I believe a child only needs one parent as long as that parent makes ends meet and as long as having that one parent means the child won’t miss out on things! I’m a single mum to be and I’m so excited for the journey ahead of me and I can’t see raising my child with anyone else. I’m so excited to do it alone and I can’t wait for it. Good luck!
