Did you eat salami pregnant?

I’m asking about salami deli meat not heated up at all? My sister told me she did and my sister in law ate deli meats when pregnant. Curious to know.

Avoid deli meat from the actual deli counter and stick to the packaged stuff. You also want to avoid anything with nitrites/nitrates. The concern with deli meat is listeria poisoning but your more likely to get that from unwashed veggies. Prepackaged deli meat is prepared in controlled environments and is less likely to have any issues. Deli meat from the deli counter comes into contact with more human hands and is not always put away immediately after slicing, and they don’t normally clean the blades in between different meats so they can transfer any bacteria from one meat to the next.

It's been 11 years since I've been pregnant and back then I was told no cold meats unless they were heated up. That was 11 years ago so I looked it up. According to the American Pregnancy Association eating cold meat is fine.

For the most part, you're good. Listeria starts to grow to dangerous levels on meat that hasn't been stored properly or when a manufacturer isnt cleaning their equipment properly. So if you get your meat from a reputable source, you should be perfectly fine.

I are deli meat without heating it both pregnancies. As long as it's from a reputable place and not sitting out for a few hours, you're usually fine. I wouldn't eat tons of it, but once in a while shouldn't hurt anything. Always double check with your medical care provider.

Yes! I’ve eaten it both pregnancies. As long as it is stored properly & not expired or anything crazy you should be fine. I do usually toast or heat my sandwiches out of preference. If you’re concerned, just heat the meat til it is steaming which doesn’t take long, then it’ll be more than okay. But again if stored properly it’ll be fine

Your not supose to eat it cold unless its the prepackaged oscar meyers etc. In the sealed vacumes baggies and then in the plastic container because thats had the bacteria killed off of it. The fresh shaven deli meats your not supose to have
