If i go into labor before gbs test?

Im 37 weeks and getting my gbs test Thursday but wat happens if I go into labor before thurs? Wat will they do? My last pregnancy i was negative but that probably won’t matter to the hospital right

The test is super inaccurate (most women are tested at least a month early and your status can change from day to day) and the antibiotics they give you carry more risk than the infection does. I would decline antibiotics.

At hospitals here in AU, if you haven't been tested you are treated as negative and they just keep a close eye on you and bub afterwards. The stats are extremely low if you research them. As antibiotic resistance in our global society is high. So personally I prefer not to dose myself and child with antibiotics unless absolutely necessary.
But anyways, just saying, a whole country would treat you as if negative if you came in before doing the test says something about the statistical chances of it being a concern. USA is very intervention happy (I'm from US originally).

When I went into labor at 32 weeks they tried to treat me as positive and give me antibiotics but I delivered too fast to get a dose in.

If you go into labour and haven't had the test tell them that you needed tested for it when you get to the labour ward. They will give you the antibiotics anyways. But make sure they know because they don't always read all of your notes when you go in. They sometimes just skim over to see important things so sometimes miss it😒 as long as they know you'll get treated as of you had a positive result

This scenario happened to me. I was told by a l&d nurse family member they should’ve treated me as positive and given me the antibiotics for it anyways. They ended up completely missing that and it could’ve been super harmful to baby. Advocate for yourself if it happens! I wish I had known.
