(Broody=being motherly/taking on motherhood) I have tried everything to get our hens to go broody. We set up everything for them. Nothing. They’re a couple years old and free range.

We get new chickens, they’re laying fertile eggs but are too stressed to even think about being broody so we spend $$$ on an incubator yesterday

And guess... who decided to pick one of the most random trashed out spots to go broody. One of our older hens, AND an OLD CRUSTY ASS OVEN.

We gutted out an old storage building. We are remodeling it and ripped it apart and this old oven came out of it. It’s turned on it’s side, it was about to be hauled off.

It’s like she got jealous and decided if anyone’s gonna have babies it’s her. Forget the coops. Forget the broody boxes. Give me a crusty ass oven and a spiteful hen.

And yeah we’re just gonna leave here there. She has eggs under her and bit my fingers when I checked. I mean whatever girl. There’s not anything in her eggs but I might slip some of what the new hens are laying under her and take her eggs so they don’t just sit there and rot underneath her.

I’m still going to incubate because it’s about to get hot and sis picked a bad spot.

UPDATE: As soon as this girl got up, her sisters ATE HER EGGS.

This is why I bought an incubator and have the fertile eggs in storage lmfaooo
